QFIT Test
What is included?
This is a laboratory-based test using a stool sample collected at home and sent to our lab for analysis. The name of the test is Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Test (QFIT for short).
When we report your results, you will receive the full lab report with the quantitative data - not just a positive or negative result. You will also receive an interpretation of your result by a named doctor.
What is a QFIT test?
QFIT is an assay that helps identify occult blood in a faeces sample. This is blood that may not be visible to the naked eye. This test helps identify blood in a stool sample that could be related to various medical conditions (including bowel cancer).
How does it work?
Order your test kit online, and we will send you the sample collection kit by next day delivery. The test is supplied with full instructions on how to use it. The sample is then sent back to our lab for analysis in the prepaid envelope that we provide. The return service is Royal Mail 24 Tracked, so is usually received the day after you post it. The sample can be sent from any post box - it does not have to be taken to a Post Office.
How long does it take?
If you order your test kit before the cut-off time Monday to Friday (3 pm) or 11 am on a Saturday, then we will send it out to you by next day delivery for receipt the following morning. Special Delivery requires a signature, but the Royal Mail 24 Tracked shipping method can be posted through your letterbox. Please note that Saturday dispatches may not arrive until the Monday.
You should have your results within 1 day of the sample being received by the lab.
What happens when I receive my result?
Your result will be interpreted by a doctor and they will let you know the next step (in the event of an abnormal result).
Who is this test suitable for?
The QFIT test is suitable for anyone with symptoms of intestinal inflammation. This could include unusual change in bowel movements or blood in your faeces. Or the test can also be used by patients on a precautionary basis. Many patients opt for our service rather than the NHS because of the very fast results turnaround.
