What the Full Blood Count test covers

Although we use a small blood sample that you collect using one of our finger prick medical devices, it is capable of providing significant information, including:

  • Red Cell Count
  • White Cell Count
  • Haemoglobin
  • Platelets

How the test works

You will receive your sample collection kit in a discreet package.

The kit contains a certified medical device for patients to use to extract a small volume of blood from a finger prick. This is known as a capillary blood sample.

Samples are sent back to our laboratory using Royal Mail 24 Tracked. This is included in the price we charge. This is a tracked service, but the packages can be sent back from any post box in the UK.

Results are generally same day the sample is received, but can take up to 24 hours if lab volumes are high.

Test Accuracy

Although the blood sample size is small, this test has been validated to provide the same results if the blood sample had been taken professionally from a vein.

You will be provided with the full lab report and an interpretation of your results by a named UK doctor.
